DNA Testing
DNA testing helps pinpoint effective solutions for skin-related concerns which may not be identified through conventional methods.
The Skinsmith Clinic incorporates DNA testing into patient treatment plans in order to ensure an accurate diagnosis of the underlying cause of a skin condition. This allows the Skinsmith Clinic to provide patients with customised solutions that offer effective and long-lasting results.
Why DNA Testing?
Conventional skincare methods treat the symptoms of a skin condition but don’t always identify or treat the underlying cause of the condition. This results in the individual constantly trying out new treatment methods in order to combat the recurring symptoms. This can be extremely frustrating and disheartening when a treatment isn’t found to be effective.
At the Skinsmith Clinic, a patient’s genetic predisposition towards dry or flaky skin, sun damage, wrinkles, scarring, blemishes, sun sensitivity, certain skin cancers and hair loss can all be identified through DNA testing.
Once the underlying cause has been identified, the highly skilled clinicians at The Skinsmith Clinic will develop a customised treatment and prevention plan for the individual patient.
How is the DNA Collected?
DNA samples are collected by means of a non-invasive cheek swab using a cotton bud.
Privacy
DNA testing is highly confidential. All samples are sent to a certified laboratory where the gene verification analysis is done. Results will only be discussed between the patient and the clinician at The Skinsmith Clinic.
