My clients often ask me what products they need to maintain a good skincare routine.
In my experience, there are a lot of products out there that promise a lot, but deliver very little. Through loads of research, and personal experience, here are my top 3 face care essentials. Every woman should have the following three products in her skincare routine. They will ensure your skin is kept clean, moisturised, and protected from sun damage. These provide the foundation of good skin!
1. Cleanser
Cleansers are not necessarily the same as a face wash. They are more effective in removing built-up dirt, and have a moisturising effect too. They are usually far gentler on the skin than face washes and soaps.
2. Moisturiser
Besides helping to hydrate your skin, a quality moisturiser will also help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and it shields your skin from harsh weather conditions like extreme temperatures, and the wind.
3. Sunscreen with high SPF
SPF stands for “Sun Protection Factor” and that is exactly what sunscreens are designed to do. I can’t emphasise enough how important a strong sunscreen with a reasonably high SPF is for your skin. I recommend factor 30-50. UV rays from the sun are extremely harmful for your skin, causing dryness, wrinkles, skin damage and pigmentation. Over-exposure can even increase your risk of skin cancer.
BONUS TIP: Good diet and serum
When putting together a skin treatment plan for my clients, I also usually recommend a serum, but that is based on their individual skincare needs. My favourite serums are from the Delta range which we stock at the Skinsmith Clinic. A healthy, balanced diet which includes a lot of fresh and fruit and vegetables will up your antioxidants which are also vital for a healthy skin. Remember: What you put in is what you get out!
